1) 🎥 Reviewing Episode One of Messi In America
The first episode of Apple TV’s docuseries, Messi Meets America was a nice little trip back to July of this year, when the Argentine just signed with the club.
It gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at his first weeks in Miami, speaking with various locals and asking how they feel about the signing, ultimately leading up to his first match for the Herons, the 2-1 win vs Cruz Azul.
All in all, it was a nice starting point for the documentary, easing people into it. There was also a nice few minutes on Sergio Busquets and how important he is to the team as well.
The first episode was enjoyable.
Definitely well done on Apple TV’s part.
Fans should look forward to the next couple of episodes.
Our take: Messi Meets America started off well. The first episode was a nice summary of the Argentine's first few weeks here. More episodes are set to come out in the coming weeks.
2) 🐐 Messi Won’t Go On Loan
According to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Messi won’t be going on out loan this summer.
There were rumors that, because of the long MLS off-season, the World Cup winner could return to Spain for a few months to stay fit.
Romano shot down those rumors, saying: “Messi’s focus is on Argentina, and Inter Miami, nothing else at the moment.”
Going back to Barcelona would’ve been great for nostalgia, but for Inter Miami, it wouldn’t have made sense.
Messi is set to stay in South Florida over the off-season to prep for next year.
The Argentine needs all the rest he can get.
Our take: Messi going back to Barcelona was never truly an option. The Argentine has dealt with a leg injury this season, and he’ll need as much rest as possible for next year.
3) 😬 Mob Rule?
There will be no Lionel Messi in the MLS postseason.
It's a missed opportunity to get a new audience invested in the drama that is Major League Soccer playoffs.
