1) 😈 Miami Roll Out a New Formation In 2-2 Draw
Inter Miami is a team that’s ready for 2024.
In their 2-2 draw vs. Charlotte last night, Tata Martino lined up his team in a 4-3-3, that shifted to a 4-3-1-2 during certain tactical situations.
This is notable, because a few weeks ago, after Miami was close to being eliminated from the playoffs, Martino had this to say:
“Make the best decisions for next year.”
Next season could see the Herons roll out in a 4-3-1-2, with Messi as the attacking midfielder playing in front of three holding midfielders, and just behind two central strikers.
As the off-season approaches, Miami fans will slowly start to see a shift in the team’s personnel that could fit this tactical approach as the club look to build a squad that can challenge for MLS Cup.
Miami played spoiler as Charlotte dropped points in Fort Lauderdale.
Tata Martino also rolled out a new formation that the Herons could play in next year.
2024 will be a big season for the club.
Our take: Miami may not have played its best match against Charlotte, but knowing that manager Tata Martino is using these last two games as a test runs for players and tactics, it makes the result even more impressive.
2) 🔢 Player Ratings From The Match
Ratings
🧤 Drake Callender - 7: Came up with big saves. Looking forward to seeing how he takes his game up a level during the off-season.
💨 Noah Allen - 6 : Was caught out of position a couple of times, one of which led to a Charlotte goal. Still young and will grow from this.
🏋️ Kamal Miller- 6.1: Not one of his better matches for the Herons, but he did get back from a cross-world flight from Japan, so.
🦌 Tomas Aviles - 6.7: Miami’s most promising young defender, Aviles held more composure in this match compared to his other ones.
🇺🇸 DeAndre Yedlin - 6.4: Was aggressive in attack, and was defensively solid in the first half.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 6.5: Was Miami’s metronome, and played well next to Gregore.
🕺 Gregore - 6: Welcome back from injury, Gregore! Looked like his usual self out there. Will be a crucial member of the midfield going forward.
15 minutes in and Gregore is looking spry! Had some nice combination play with Busquets and is covering lots of ground already.

🧔♂️ Leo Campana - 6.7: Didn’t have much to do in attack, but grew into the game. Served up a lovely assist on Robinson’s goal.
🇦🇷 Nicolas Stefanelli - 7: Looked like the version of Nico Stefanelli that Miami wanted to see when he was first brought to the club.
🌟 Facundo Farias - 6: Looked much more comfortable this outing compared to his last time out for the team. Just needs to settle down and do what he does best.
Subs:
